List A2 is a ten-word short /e/ set: net, pet, hen, red, bed, fed, ten, men, jet, and leg. With simple CVC words, beginning spellers can focus on the sounds in order. They read, copy, cover, and check each one. Have children tap out the three sounds in each word before they write it, as a quick phonemic awareness add-on.
