About this Halloween codebreaker
In this codebreaker, students use the key at the top of the page to decode words related to Halloween. Matching each coded letter back to the key is a fun way to practice careful reading, letter recognition, and spelling, and the Halloween theme makes it an easy seasonal activity for October.
It works well as a party station, an early-finisher activity, or a quiet puzzle at home. Ask students to decode a few words and then use context to guess the rest. For extra practice, have them write each decoded word in a sentence, or invent a coded Halloween word of their own for a friend to solve.
The page is marked suitable for any grade level, so younger students can work with a partner while older students solve it on their own.
